Set rules for pool safety early and stick to your guns. One of the most dangerous things you can do when it comes to pool safety is to have no rules. Worse still is to not enforce the rules. If you post rules at your own pool or set rules for your children for all pools, and the rules are broken for any reason, there must be consequences.
Properly enclose your pool. In most parts of Arizona, there are laws pertaining to proper enclosures for swimming pools. But what’s more is how important this is to the safety of your children and other children. Ensure that your pool is inaccessible when you’re not around.
Be available when kids are playing in your pool or another nearby pool. You’ve got things to do, of course, but if you know your children will be playing in or near water, make the time to be there and supervise.

Teach your child to swim properly. If your child is going to be playing in a pool this summer, enroll them in swimming lessons. Swimming lessons will teach your child how to handle deep water, fatigue, and other situations that could otherwise lead to a serious injury or incident.
