It is the legal obligation of every car owner to renew his or her registration annually and keep all registrations current. Expired registrations can be penalized with traffic tickets, fines, and even jail time in some extreme cases.
In order to renew your registration nowadays, all you have to do is go to the Department of Transportation’s website and begin the online renewal process. Though transactions cannot be performed at all times of day, you are allowed to confirm your information and address, select a new plate (if you want), pay your fee, and that’s it! Your vehicle is registered for another year.
No Registration Allowed
However, there are some reasons that the Department of Motor Vehicles may refuse to renew a person’s registration, according to ARS 28-1632. A person won’t be able to renew if he or she:
Owes money for certain previous traffic violations
Owes money for a criminal traffic case
Failed to appear in court for a criminal traffic case
As personal injury attorneys, we at the Breyer Law Offices, P.C., all too often see accidents in which the at-fault driver has already broken a law, if not several. At-fault drivers sometimes have poor traffic records, expired plates, criminal traffic violations, and more. We work hard to represent our clients by collecting these facts and using them to build a case against that at-fault driver.
On the other hand, we do see situations in which at-fault drivers have a perfect record and have never been in an accident before. However, upon thorough investigation, we commonly discover that the at-fault driver broke traffic laws, which caused the accident to occur and injured our client.
No Substitute for Strong Representation
That’s why it is so important to hire a legal team with years of experience.
We work hard to thoroughly investigate the facts in your case. Our goal is to get you a settlement that you can use to begin the path to recovery, and we work hard for all our clients. If you are injured by another driver, we will uncover all the facts, including whether that driver had a poor record or a perfect one. In either case, we will rebuild the events leading up to the crash to prove your case. There is absolutely nothing to lose and no obligation. Contact Mark and Alexis Breyer today.
