How can it possible that we are already on our ninth HWLT HEART win? It seems it was just yesterday that we announced the campaign. But given the number of nominations the amazing people of Arizona have sent us since then, that simply can’t be possible. It has been incredibly thrilling to help so many amazing local restaurants during these trying times, and we are excited to continue this incredible trend.
The most recent restaurant to join our winners’ circle is Cupz N Crepes, a much beloved Ahwatukee favorite. When the owner, Terrie Martinez, found out her beloved restaurant won, she immediately began working on a special menu for the day. She worked with her staff all night, teaching them the new menu and preparing them for how busy it would become. Afterall, they had already started to receive orders for the day in question, so there was no doubt business would be booming.
When the restaurant opened on Friday, May 8th, it was met with non-stop business. Customers were calling in orders nearly every second, and even more were spilling into the doors to pick up their food. Cupz N Crepes has been an Ahwatukee institution for 12 years now. Its customers are loyal and were thrilled that they could come by and help a restaurant in need. With such an extensive menu of both sweet and savory crepes, who could blame them?
We hope that you will all continue to support Cupz N Crepes, even though their day with the HWLT HEART campaign is over. The restaurant was started by a loving mother and her daughter who wanted to open a simple coffee shop but ended up creating something so much more magical. Here’s a tip, when you visit the restaurant, try to count all the Eiffel Towers. They seem to be plastered on just about everything, the walls, the coasters, the plates. There are even a few standalone statues of the tower. It can be great fun while you’re biting into a delicious crepe.
If you would like to help support your favorite Arizona restaurant through these difficult times, head over to our HEART campaign page and submit a nomination. Restaurants are being hit hard right now, and many could use the community’s support. Of course, we would like to once again thank everyone who already sent nominations in. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to run this campaign.
We hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy.
